I M.L. : What led to the end of the Hollywood Stars? Terry: Unfortunately this group was stopped in its tracks by another law suit regarding studio time being charged to Columbia Records that we never had used. It turned out that a major recording artist that was recording at the Record Plant needed a little extra studio time, so they just charged it to us. Nobody would find out right ? WRONG! Finding himself among unemployed again was definitely a blow to the old ego. Every time a group would start to develop, bang! SHOT DOWN. M.L. : But you later record also with Blue Cheer Terry: YesJ was approached by Nick St.Nicholas (Steppenwolf) and Kim Fowley again with a new project. BLUE CHEER. It seems that Kim and Mars Bonfire had some songs that might work with Dickey Petersons efforts to get another hit for Blue Cheer. Ruben DeFuentes (from the Stars) was a great "metal" guitar player and along with Dickey's heavy bass style and Jerry Peterson on guitar and vocals. We felt this was going to be a good solid group to work with. Kim and Nick produced two songs with us at Gold Star Studios. "Adventures" and "Fighting Star". We put together a pretty strong set of songs and played around Orange County for a few months. The instrumental side was strong, but Dickey had really blown his voice out years ago leaving the vocals to weak. M.L. : Did you play with anyone else during that time? Terry: While I was looking for new inspiration, I met and recorded with the guys from "SPARKS." We recorded "England" at the Brothers Studios in Santa Monica. They really were not looking for a permanent drummer at that time, but they were both very cool. and it was fun. Here's a good idea, bring back the Hollywood Stars with a new name! Terry: Mark Anthony, Michael Rummins, Bobby Drier, Ruben DeFuentes and myself would be "THE STARS." What! There's already a STARZ ? Ok then, "THE HOLLYWOOD STARS" will try it again. Mark Anthony had a lot of new songs and new found energy(money) from kim Fowley placing two of his songs with other artists. Our song "King of the Night time World" was recorded by KISS and "Escape" was done by "ALICE COOPER". With this new claim to fame and a need to proove ourselves, we started out again. People were taking us more seriously this time around and before long we met Neil Merryweather who would produce a demo tape for us that would get us a deal with the top man with Arista Records, Clive Davis.
